About Rex Beanland
For the past 15 years he has focused primarily on urban landscapes. He is amused, inspired and intrigued by the things they do. So, he paints cityscapes to capture the interaction between people and the places they live. Corresponding to this period of urban subjects, he has enjoyed a great deal of success and recognition culminating in being awarded signature status with the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, The Federation of Canadian Artists and The Canadian Society of Artists.
Gallery
For me urban landscape is the most evocative painting subject. I am inspired and fascinated by people and people live in the city. I especially love capturing the interaction between people and their surroundings.
I find great enjoyment and comfort in being out in nature. It seems to fulfill a very basic need in my spirit. For me it’s about life where people are not the most important part even though I really like to sneak references to people and human activity into my landscapes.
Painting portraits and figures is the most direct method of telling a story. We are instinctively drawn to images of people. We search for meaning in their expressions. We are drawn in to their lives. We wonder and we reflect.
All these paintings are available for purchase. Contact me for information.
